Louise Hylland

Louise Hylland is a young Danish-Norwegian director who first gained recognition as officer Katja in Den Tid på Ugen, before moving behind the camera to pursue her passion for storytelling.

With a background in acting and visual arts, she brings a distinctive eye for detail, colour, and composition. Her films balance humour and emotional depth disarmingly honest, effortlessly moving between drama and comedy.

When she takes on any project, obsession is the word to describe her approach. As a screenwriter, besides her own works, she has worked on big fiction projects with some of Denmark’s most established names.

Her award-winning shorts have gained national and international recognition and are used in public schools. She has been nominated for the Young Directors Award in Cannes three years in a row, winning Silver and continues to establish herself as a powerful new voice in film.
